From the Airforce to the fun-force! This Franchise Friday, we’re shining the spotlight on Kat Duncan, the vibrant, hardworking and incredibly passionate force behind Messy Bubs Werribee. Kat’s story is one of transformation, dedication, and a whole lot of messy fun!

Life Before Messy Bubs: Structure, Service & Seeking Stability
Before she was leading Messy Bubs through colourful, squishy sensory adventures, Kat spent a decade in the Royal Australian Air Force. While she loved her time in the RAAF, she knew it was time to hang up the uniform and settle in one place for good.
“I enjoyed my time but I was looking to discharge and settle down rather than move around every few years,” Kat shared. That’s when fate (and a whole lot of rainbow spaghetti) stepped in...
First Splash into Messy Play
Kat’s introduction to Messy Bubs happened during a session in Darwin with her daughter — run by none other than Messy Bubs founder, Natalie. And it was love at first splatter!
“The session was colourful, inviting and engaging! I fell in love with the Messy Bubs concept!”
Seeing how engaged her daughter was, and feeling the warmth and creativity of the experience, Kat knew this was more than just a fun morning — it was her future.
Training Days & A Spectacular Launch
With no prior experience working with children, Kat initially worried if she'd be able to take the leap. But the online training proved to be the perfect fit — flexible, thorough and supportive.
“Natalie was very flexible with times/dates as I also had a full time job as a bus driver! I felt fully supported leading up to the launch as well as on the day.”
And that launch? Not one, but two sold-out sessions! A flying start that set the tone for a successful franchise journey.
Now & Beyond: Growing the Fun in the West
Fast forward nearly three years, and Kat’s business has flourished! While she still runs monthly pop-up sessions, her main focus is on ongoing incursions with local councils and daycares, plus plenty of messy birthday parties.
“I love the flexibility of running my own business. It definitely comes with challenges, but I’m always learning and improving.”
Her commitment and creativity haven't gone unnoticed. At the recent Messy Bubs Australia Conference, Kat walked away with not one but two amazing awards:
🏆 Incursion Hostess – Kat Duncan (Messy Bubs Werribee)
🥳 Awesome Party Planner – Kat Duncan (Messy Bubs Werribee)
