We recently launched our brand new Discover Sensory program for our mini messy bubs under 12 months old.
One of the main aspects of our Discover Sensory program is our bespoke musical activities. This gives care giver and baby the perfect start to our session with musical activities including bonding, tracking, sharing and language development.
Here are some benefits to musical sensory play for babies and care givers:
Boosting Brain Development
Music stimulates multiple areas of a baby’s brain, helping to develop cognitive skills. Rhythms and melodies can enhance memory, pattern recognition, and even mathematical understanding. When babies hear different sounds, their brains start forming connections that lay the foundation for future learning.
Encouraging Motor Skills
Musical sensory play often involves movement. Clapping, swaying, or shaking instruments helps babies develop their motor skills. These activities improve coordination and strengthen muscles, preparing little ones for milestones like crawling and walking.
Enhancing Emotional Bonding
One of the most beautiful aspects of musical sensory play is the bonding experience it offers. Singing lullabies or dancing with your baby creates a strong emotional connection. The shared joy and laughter during these moments foster a sense of security and love, which is crucial for a baby’s emotional development.
Sparking Creativity and Imagination
Music ignites creativity. Whether it’s listening to a variety of sounds or exploring different instruments, babies start to understand cause and effect. This exploration fuels their imagination and curiosity, laying the groundwork for creative thinking in later life.
Reducing Stress for Caregivers
It’s not just babies who benefit! Musical sensory play can be a wonderful stress reliever for caregivers. Singing or playing music with your baby can lift your mood, reduce anxiety, and create a joyful atmosphere at home. It’s a delightful way to unwind and enjoy quality time with your little one.
