Last week, Messy Bubs joined families all across Australia to celebrate Science Week and wow, what a week it was!
🌏 From our Mini Bubs to our Messy Toddlers and Mighty Bubs, everyone got hands-on with science through sensory play, exploration, and lots of messy fun.
In our Mini Messy Bubs program, our mini bubs explored:
🌟 Pat Mats – perfect for visual tracking and tummy time.
🌡️ Hot and Cold Play – introducing early temperature awareness.
⚖️ Float and Sink – discovering how objects behave in water.
🫧 Oobleck – that fascinating mix of liquid and solid, loved by all ages!
Science might sound big for babies, but really, it’s part of their everyday world. Every time a child squishes, pours, stirs, or splashes, they’re learning about cause and effect, problem solving, and the way things work. For toddlers and preschoolers, messy science play helps build early STEM foundations, curiosity, questioning, experimenting, and making discoveries through play.
Why Science Week Matters for Babies, Toddlers and Children...
Babies begin to understand textures, reactions, and movement which are early steps in scientific thinking.
Toddlers learn by testing their ideas (“what happens if I…?”) and seeing results.
Preschoolers start linking concepts together, building the foundation for future learning in science and beyond.
At Messy Bubs, we believe that science is everywhere, in the bubbles they blow, the water they pour, the colours they mix, and the potions they stir. Science Week is a wonderful reminder to slow down and explore those everyday wonders with our little ones.
And the best part? Learning through messy play doesn’t just teach science it’s fun, it’s engaging, and it creates beautiful moments of connection between children and their grown-ups.
We loved celebrating Science Week with our Messy Bubs families, and we can’t wait to keep exploring the magic of the world around us.
